Celebrate The Groom-to-Be With an “I Do BBQ”

In many workplaces, bridal showers are a common way to celebrate women getting married—but what about our male teammates? I work in a male-dominated industry, where we sometimes miss the chance to recognize grooms-to-be in a fun and meaningful way. That’s where the “I Do BBQ” comes in!

What is an “I Do BBQ”?

Think of it as a laid-back, food-filled way to celebrate an upcoming wedding, but with a more casual, everyone-friendly vibe. Whether you're firing up the grill in the summer or making it a cozy indoor BBQ-inspired lunch in the winter, the goal is to gather, eat, and show support for your teammate’s big day. Below are some fun ways to make this happen.

Summer Cookout – Fire up the grill outside, serve up burgers, hot dogs, and BBQ favorites, and enjoy lawn games like cornhole or horseshoes.

Tailgate-Style BBQ – If your team loves sports, set up a tailgate-style event in the parking lot or breakroom with BBQ sliders, wings, and classic game-day snacks.

BBQ Potluck – Have team members bring their best BBQ-inspired dishes, from pulled pork to baked beans, and let the groom-to-be vote on his favorites.

Bourbon & BBQ (After-Hours Edition) – Pair BBQ bites with whiskey or beer tastings for an after-work gathering that feels both celebratory and relaxed.

The “I Do BBQ” is a simple, fun way to make sure everyone gets celebrated before their big day—no matter the season. And let’s be honest, who doesn’t love an excuse for some great BBQ?
